History of the Committee
The Venice Committee of the Società Dante Alighieri was founded after the Dante Committees from all over the world restored the Porta dell’Arsenale, under the direction of Sir Ashley Clarke. The Marina Militare offered a venue for the Venice Committee in the Arsenal itself. Since then the Committee has changed places several times, and is now at S. Elena 3.
Current projects
Placing on bookshelves and cataloguing of book donations. Courses of Italian for foreigners.
Future projects
In addition to the above project we would like to open an info point for digital learning and digital procedures.
What can be and is the role of our Committee within the Association?
The role of the Committtee within the Association could be to provide Courses of Italian for scholars studying Venice. We will also contribute to making the S Elena community digitally expert and we will open a reading or borrowing point open to scholars who will take advantage of our library.
What does working in Venice mean for our Committee?
Working in Venice means to us keeping Venice culturally alive and trying to draw people to live in Venice.
